The Beginning

Spartan Ninja Warrior

Coach Nichole and Scott got introduced to Ninja Warrior in 2018 when their daughter was 5 and took an interest in participating in Ninja. Coach Nichole and Scott started by building an obstacle course in their own backyard and when their daughter outgrew that, they researched Ninja gyms nearby with no luck, they drove their daughter about an hour away multiple days a week so she can participate in the activity. Coach Nichole and Scott knew the benefits of participating in Ninja and that people would participate if there was one in East Lansing. That's when they got coaching certifications  in  World Ninja League Coaching Certification and United Ninja Athlete Association Coaching Certifications and partnered up with the Spartan Dance Studio to open a Ninja studio of their own. Now Spartan Ninja Warrior gym has 7 coaches, multiple obstacle courses, a competition team, and hundreds of participants from all ages.

Coach Nichole

Coach Nichole played multiple sports throughout her life including basketball, volleyball, and softball. She grew up in East Lansing, just a half mile away from Spartan Ninja Warrior, and made weekly trips to SNW when it was L&L Food Center. After high school, she continued to play a few years of collegiate basketball and softball at Carthage College in Kenosha, WI and then furthered her education at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, earning a master’s degree in forensic psychology. Coach Nichole has been in the ninja world since 2018, when she and Coach Scott’s daughter Tristin took an interest at age 5. She maintains World Ninja League Coaching Certification and United Ninja Athlete Association Coaching Certifications. She really enjoys the self-discovery process of the sport of ninja. As a ninja coach, Coach Nichole loves being able to support others with their ongoing mental and physical growth and development, which can be transferred to areas outside of the gym such as in school and community.

During the day, Coach Nichole works as a Business Analyst, doing child welfare program data analytics, for the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services. When she and Coach Scott are not at Spartan, they are supporting their older daughter, Taylor in volleyball activities and their younger daughter, Tristin in ninja, and soccer.
